Naming ceremonies aren’t just for babies.
They can mark the arrival of a newborn child, celebrate adoption, or becoming part of a blended family, or recognise an older child taking a new family name.
They can also celebrate a new name entirely, mark a new chapter, and affirm someone for exactly who they are.
My ceremonies are proudly inclusive, and created with an understanding of just how much a name can mean to our identity and sense of belonging.
What is a naming ceremony?
A naming ceremony is a completely personal way to mark a name, a new chapter, or an important moment in someone’s life.
There’s no set format, no legal wording, and no expectation that it has to look a certain way. That means we can start from scratch and create something that actually feels right for you, your family, and the person at the heart of the ceremony.
It might include stories, promises from parents, or guideparents, contributions from siblings or other important people, readings, music, or symbolic elements such as a sand ceremony. Or it might be much simpler.
The important thing is that it feels meaningful, and genuinely personal - you’ll never have a generic ceremony with a name slotted in it if you choose me to write it.

A planning meeting where we talk through your story, your people, and what you want the ceremony to feel like
A completely bespoke ceremony script
Help with ideas for readings, promises, guideparents, music, or symbolic elements if you want them
Support and tweaks while we get everything feeling just right - including unlimited redrafts
Me there on the day to lead the ceremony
A keepsake copy of your final script, and a naming certificate

Every ceremony is written completely from scratch, around you and the reason you’re celebrating.
Your fee includes our planning meeting, your completely bespoke ceremony script help and ideas for readings, promises or symbolic elements if you’d like them, unlimited drafts, delivery of your ceremony on the day, a keepsake copy of your final script afterwards, and a commemorative certificate. The price also includes travel to venues in South Wales.
